Doug Berndt ARPS

Thank you for visiting my photography site.

I'm based in Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduating with a BSc in Physics, I spent 30 years in the defence industry in a variety of Engineering and Management roles. This took me to many corners of the globe and one of my regrets is that I did not carry a camera with me for much of that.

My interest in photography goes back over 40 years and I cut my teeth on film, black & white and colour printing, and transparency development. I have found that digital technology has liberated my photography. I joined the Royal Photographic Society in February 2012 and was awarded ARPS in September 2013 for a panel of prints in the Contemporary category. I was previously awarded LRPS in November 2012. You can view my successful print panels in the galleries. I'm a member of the RPS Digital Imaging Group (DiG) and of the RPS Contemporary Group. I am Organiser and webmaster for the RPS DiG Scotland Centre, which meets regularly through the year in Bridge of Allan. I am currently Senior Vice President of Edinburgh Photographic Society and also Competition Secretary for EPS's Creative Digital Group.

I have several acceptances and awards for my photography in International Salons. I am a Scottish Photographic Federation accredited Judge.

I enjoy images that tell a story. My main photographic interests lie in Landscapes, Travel and Wildlife. I'm also partial to Monochrome images.

My photography gets me out and about and I can often be found with a camera and a "lens of the day" in the Pentland Hills south of Edinburgh. When asked what my best piece of photographic equipment is, I reply "My hiking boots!".

Enjoy my images and let me know your thoughts through the comments form.

Best wishes,

Doug
